You are invited to an evening reception at St Bride Library.
Following the relocation and refurbishment of the Library Reading Room this reception, hosted by St Bride Foundation on the eve of the Library's 113th anniversary, thanks all funders, supporters, friends and benefactors who have helped achieve this milestone in the Library's history.
The event will give an insight of the various stages in the Library's development over the last few years and an outline of our plans for the next phase to establish a visitor attraction within the building.
There will also be demonstrations by Mark Frith (Letter Carver), Paul Antonio (Calligrapher) and Adam Burton (Letterpress Printer).
'Fleet Street Apocalypse', a limited edition print by Stanley Donwood that was produced at the Library on an Albion hand press, will be available for sale. You can view the Slowly Downward edition of these prints on the Slowly Downward site .
The Library's edition is numbered 1-36 and signed by the artist.
Copies of the Gutenberg Bible facsimile page that was printed on the press built by Alan May for the documentary 'Stephen Fry and the Gutenberg Press' will also be on sale. Each of these has been signed by Stephen. The documentary on BBC iPlayer

6.30pm Welcome from Mike Jenkins, St Bride Foundation
6.35, 7.05, 7.35pm approx Groups of 10 visit new Reading Room for a view of the new facilities and a preview of the planned workshop and permanent displays, then on to the Exhibition Room where our demonstrators will be working. There will be more refreshments available.
The prints, and copies of the Library journal Ultrabold, will be available for viewing and for sale.
