We begin in the Exhibition Room with a preview of the exhibition (from 5.30pm) before moving upstairs to the Bridewell Hall for the accompanying lecture at 7.00pm..
Our speaker, Carolyn Trant, was a student of Peggy Angus at the North London Collegiate School, and later continued to work with Peggy hand printing wallpaper at Camden Studio while studying art at the Slade. An independent artist and designer of her own books, she began to assist Peggy in writing her autobiography, and continued with research after Peggy?s death in 1993, finally producing ART for LIFE: the story of Peggy Angus, which was published earlier this year by Incline Press.
Tickets for the lecture, £5 or £3 concessions, available on the door.
The exhibition features the work of Peggy Angus ? paintings, portraits, teaching aids and hand printed wallpapers ? and the work of five who were influenced and inspired by Peggy Angus while learning with her.
Carolyn Trant; Parvenu Press artists? books
Diana Hall; Tiles Worth Walking On
Philippa Threlfall; Black Dog of Wells ? terracotta tiles
