Since their introduction in the depths of the second world war, Puffin books have brought life and colour into the lives of millions of children. Phil Baines’ book, a new sibling for Penguin by design (2005), marks their 70th anniversary.
In his talk celebrating the occasion Phil will discuss the changes in typography, illustration and printing techniques over Puffin’s history, as well as the significant differences between Puffin’s approach to design and illustration and that of parent company Penguin.
