Temporary closure of St Bride Library

The library is currently closed. The Foundation does not receive any statutory funding or grant income to support the library and the current financial climate does not allow us to continue to support the library as we have been able to in previous years.

The Governors of the Foundation are totally committed to re-opening the library as soon as possible and a review of the library’s operations and activities is currently underway. This coupled with an active fundraising campaign will make sure that we are able to open the library doors again within the shortest possible time.

The Governors and staff of the Foundation gratefully acknowledge the huge support and encouragement received by the Friends of the Library whose work will hasten the re-opening.

Once the library is re-open the Foundation hopes to have upgraded many of the library’s facilities including the methods of cataloguing and recording accessions as well as longer, more flexible opening hours.

In the interim it is with regret that we are unable to accept any new research enquiries. Please keep looking at the website for further updates which will be posted as soon as available. If you are in the midst of a research project please contact me by email and I will be happy to discuss the options available with you.

Please accept my sincere apologies for any inconvenience the current situation may cause.

Glyn Farrow
Director and Clerk to the Governors.

NB. our events programme and the Print Workshop are operating as normal
